WELCOME BACK / HAPPY SCHOOL NEW YEAR!!! The Friends of Waits River (FOW) is a volunteer parent group that organizes different events and fundraisers to benefit the children of the Waits River Valley School. The FOW meets the first Monday of each month, in the Library at WRVS, at 7:00 p.m.. Fundraising In the 2010 -2011 school year, the FOW will not be holding the QSP fundraiser, but instead we will be hosting more Bingo Nights and more Movie Nights! In the past few years we have concentrated our fundraising efforts on the playground and most recently this past year, the funds went to helping put on the Year End Field Day, which cost just over $2000.00. This year we are concentrating our efforts on smaller scale items, while also saving for a project on a larger scale, which is a rock wall for the school gym. SCHOOL SPIRIT ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR SALE Last year we started the sale of Adult Fleece Zip Vests, Kip Full Zip Hoodies, School Logo Magnets, hackey sackes and Popcorn Megaphones. These items are available in limited sizes and quantities and will be available for sale throughout the year.As always, we welcome any suggestions and help with any and all fundraisers. You can contact Mary Lou Moore at the front office for more information! BINGO NIGHT Bingo Night has become one of our more popular fundraisers in which families can have a relatively cheap night out together, have fun and go home with some great prizes. We play for prizes, not for cash. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. to purchase food and beverages, and games start at 6:30 p.m.. The cost is a $1.00 per sheet, or 6/$5.00, of bingo cards, with 3 games per card. Hope to see you there!!! SCHOLASTIC Book Fair The book fair will be returning this fall and will be open on November 8th thru November 13th to purchase books. These wonderful books make great Christmas and Birthday gifts, while your purchase helps fundraise at our school. More often than not, the book fair proceeds go to filling book requests for teachers and our library. If you would like to help out at our upcoming book fair, contact Bonnie O'Connell.
